and More

The legacy of the book.

From scroll to screens . . . this is a space to examine the legacy of the book — with conversations (or sometimes just comments) about artists’ books and photography, Walt Whitman’s influence on the world, and topics of varied interest.

What is a book? An assemblage of words and images on a page? Defined that way it can be a scroll, a manuscript, a codex, and more.  These enduring devices continue to communicate ideas that enlighten, illuminate, and inform.

Living alongside and complementing the Internet and e-books, the traditional book lives on.  The Art of the Book is an area of enduring interest today — ranging from artists’ books, to scrolls, to illuminated manuscripts, to beautifully illustrated books with engravings, photographs, and other arts.

Presented on this site are discussions and images that speak to the art of the book, photography and related topics.  All speak to the transformative power of art.
