Center for Book Arts Whitman exhibition catalog wins AIGA Award!
Thrilled to announce some great news! The catalog produced for the
Center for Book Arts has won an AIGA award!
The exhibition catalog has been selected by the American Institute of
Graphic Arts (AIGA) in its 50 Books / 50 Covers competition. According
to the AIGA website, this survey of book design represents perhaps
the longest-standing legacy in American graphic design. Beginning in
1923, the “Fifty Books of the Year” program has been a time-honored
competition to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers of
2019.
This is the second AIGA award received for an exhibition catalog that I
have collaborated on - the first award was for the Artists’ Books catalog
produced for the Brooklyn Museum exhibit of the same name I curated
held in 2000. Information about the catalogs is available online in the
AIGA Design Archives, an excellent online resource for those interested
in book design.
A great big congratulations to the Center for Book Arts staff including
Corina Reynolds and Roni Gross and all those who helped create the
award winning catalog. A great big thank you to all those
supporters who helped fund this publication!
